Mantis Technology LLC, a New York based software engineering and systems consulting firm was originally conceptualized to serve as a development resource for the many medical facilities in the New York metropolitan area. Mantis Technology LLC was, established to bridge the gap between information management and technology for medical practices - specifically, those practices that demand connectivity to Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Lab Information Systems (LIS), Cardiology Information Systems (CIS) and Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS). Intent on integrating the disparate information systems and building a common database or patient record, Mantis initially began surveying the marketplace for an interface engine that could dynamically tie all these components together. What Mantis found, was that no product could provide such a service - and the pieces required to "patch" a solution together were too complex and costly to implement and manage in their existing formats. Leading interface engines could only interface on a one-to-one relationship, providing connectivity to only one type of RIS, PACS or HIS, thus limiting the ability to deliver a truly integrated solution. While Mantis was providing the complex networking, data conversion and custom interface services needed to "connect" multiple information and imaging systems for Radiology and Cardiology groups (private and hospital-based) in the New York Metropolitan area, the company began to develop its own interface engine. In a few short years, Mantis developed a solution for bridging information and technology barriers, creating a suite of tools that enables clients' software applications to cross many IT platforms and diverse infrastructures. Now, at Mantis' customer sites, the entire provider chain (physicians, clinicians, technicians, executives, business managers, administrators and clerks), can view integrated data from multiple, disparate HIS, RIS, LIS, PACS, transcription services and billing systems - all from a single Windows or Web client. Subsequent joint efforts with leading Practice Management and Electronic Medical Records software development companies, RIS and PACS vendors, medical hardware/device suppliers and electronic claims processors have enabled Mantis to perfect its suite of productivity enhancing tools. Mantis clients now enjoy a competitive advantage in their marketplace, outperforming other practices, whose IT infrastructures don't allow them to meet their business objectives. Benefits of an Integrated Health Solution from Mantis include:
In 1998, Mantis finished its interface product, The Mantis e-Practice Gateway Server, and added modules to allow for a more unified information management solution. These products/services include:
As Mantis continued to support the information management and technology needs of its Radiology clients, the company repeatedly exposed the practice management and technology limitations of the leading RIS products on the market. In 1998 it became apparent to the business leaders at Mantis that no RIS offered all of the technological and practice management needs of the market. Some RIS products had great scheduling modules, but no (or poor) reporting capabilities. Some RIS products had good reporting features but couldn't network to the transcription or billing services. No RIS on the market could satisfy the demanding needs of a complex, multi-location Radiology practice. Mantis then investigated several RIS systems "in development", and decided it could offer more to customers by building a new RIS, than by partnering with a current RIS vendor. In January of 1999 Mantis Technology announced a partnership with MedInformatix Inc. of Los Angeles, CA, to deliver fully integrated Medical Information Management Solutions utilizing MedInformatix's core practice management and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software. Mantis has since integrated MedInformatix's practice management software into its existing suite of e-Practice™ solutions to offer outpatient-based practices a total practice management solution from a single vendor. In addition, Mantis has taken the core MedInformatix practice management and Electronic Medical Records software, and developed its own full-featured, Windows-based Radiology Information Systems -- MedRIS™, which, from its inception, was built to take advantage of Mantis' robust e-Practice suite of information management tools. In combining Mantis' expertise in designing, maintaining, and supporting complex, multi-vendor medical imaging networks with the award-winning practice management software from MedInformatix, a full function, integrated RIS solution has been born. MedRIS, perhaps the most powerful RIS solution in the industry, allows practices to run more efficiently, while delivering powerful tools for every aspect of a Radiology practice. MedRIS gives its clients a competitive advantage over other practices whose technology and reporting tools don't give them easy access to the information they need to compete in today's challenging business environment. Whether your practice is seeking to upgrade to a new practice management solution, to upgrade to a specific information system or to tie its existing technologies together, Mantis can help you preserve your business intelligence with the following solutions:
